So when I started to eat healthy, like really healthy and clean I felt pretty limited by my flavor choices.
I thought everything delicious in the world needed to be slathered in ranch or sugar filled ketchup or that delicious garlic sauce from Dominos.
In walks my insanely attractive friend who also happens to be the number one online personal trainer Joshua Zitting who told me he adds flavor to his healthy foods and boosts his metabolism by using hot sauce on everything because hot sauce and weight loss go hand in hand.
I have never really been into spicy foods honestly (honestly the first time I ever had a hot cheeto in elementary school I cried, yes it was pathetic), so I was skeptical of putting hot sauce on my food.
Boy was I wrong because Hot Sauce was a GAME CHANGER for my weight loss and healthy eating endeavors!
But then I found my favorite hot sauce in the world and started to add it to every meal I ate.
Hot sauce and weight loss really do go together like Heather Dubrow and Champagne!
It is literally one of the best-kept weight loss secrets!
Now I add it to my eggs, on toast, or on my meat at dinner. There is NOTHING better than a bun less turkey burger with pineapple, tomatoes, lettuce and hot sauce. Seriously don’t knock it till you’ve tried it.
Now I consider myself the hot sauce connoisseur if you will. Searching the Internet or supermarket for any new hot sauce that might catch my eye!
My hot sauce cabinet is a little bit out of control and I think it’s now a full-blown love affair.
Why You Should Use Hot Sauce to Help With Weight Loss!
It Packs Some Serious Flavor Without Packing on the Calories
Revs Up Your Metabolism– It offers a huge boost of vitamin C and capsaicin, a compound found in hot peppers that are responsible for all the heat it packs. Capsaicin can help you kick your metabolism into high gear!
Helps With Anti Aging– a huge study that was just conducted shows that people who eat spicy foods on a regular basis tend to live longer!
It’s Serious Mood Booster! – hot sauce can help those suffering from depression because eating spicy food helps your body to release endorphins, and endorphins are the natural “happy drug”
It Helps Keep You Satisfied- Hot Sauce packs a serious heat punch and by keeping your food spicier, you are forced to eat more slowly or risk burning that crap out of your mouth. It’s a great way to pace yourself especially if you are the type of person who eats their food without really tasting it!
How to Choose a Hot Sauce
According to this site “Different chili peppers have varying heat levels because of their capsaicin content.
The hotter the chili pepper, the hotter the final hot sauce.
Basic hot sauces, such those made with crushed red peppers, add heat with only a slight pepper flavor, while other peppers, such as ancho chili peppers, will add sweetness and smokiness but only a little bit of heat.
Why Does Hot Sauce Help With Weight Loss?
“Hot sauce is naturally low in calories, with a 1-tablespoon serving containing merely 3 calories. If you’re watching your weight, use hot sauce in place of a higher-calorie seasoning agent, such as butter, to increase flavor and depth in a dish.
A 1-tablespoon serving of butter has 102 calories. Substituting butter with hot sauce three times a week can set up a calorie deficit that, over a year, can lead to 4.4 pounds of lost body weight. It takes a 3,500-calorie deficit to lose 1 pound of body weight”
