Hemp Hearts are a Superfood that I have been adding to my daily smoothies for added protein when I don’t feel like mixing in some synthetic tasting protein powder!
I initially became interested in hemp hearts after reading about them from one of my fave blogger The Skinny Confidential who boasted about the wonderful health benefits.
I was so intrigued I decided to dig a little deeper and find out more about the wonderful magic of Raw Hemp Hearts
According to this source “Hemp contains rich amounts of protein, magnesium, potassium, zinc and 10 essential amino acids that our body can’t produce.
It also contains a good mix of omega-3 and omega-6 party acids, both of which are healthy fats and aid the nervous system, immunity and cardiovascular health”
Health Benefits of Eating Raw Hemp Hearts!
Better Digestion– Raw Hemp Hearts are packed with protein and fiber which work together to slow down digestion which prevents your blood sugar from spiking, therefore sustaining your bodies energy levels.
It will also help to keep you pretty damn regular if you know what I mean..wink wink nudge nudge
Healthy Hair and Skin-The powerful oils in hemp seeds is known to reach the inner layers of the skin to promote healthy cell growth and repair which leads to soft, smooth skin.
The high Omega-3 levels promote thick and healthy hair!
Hormonal Balance– Hemp Hearts are a great source of essential fatty acids and gamma linoleic acid which both help to balance hormones.
They are high in healthy anti-inflammatory 3:1 ratio of omega 6 to omega 3 fat and because they contain an especially beneficial type of omega 6 fat called gamma linoleic acid it acts as a direct building block of good anti-inflammatory hormones.
It is only found in Hemps Seeds!!! source
Muscle Relaxation– You guys know how much I love my magnesium in the form of Natural Calm Tea or a supplement on a daily basis, but the high levels of magnesium in hemp hearts help to promote deep muscle relaxation as well! Win!
Weight Loss– Probably my favorite benefit is that hemp seeds act as a natural appetite suppressant! So adding them into your morning smoothie or sprinkling some hemp hearts onto your Greek yogurt can help you feel fuller longer!
This helps you to eat less throughout the day so you lose weight and have balanced blood sugar!
My favorite way to get more hemp hearts into my diet is by making a delicious after dinner dessert type of smoothie.
It’s chocolaty and delicious and is the perfect healthy treat to end your night while still feeling like you are indulging in something rich and delicious!
