Why All Women Should Be Shaving Their Face

So guys, I have started shaving my face, no I don’t have some upper lip mustache(nothing wrong if you do), I’ve been shaving my actual face.

Wait, here me out before you think “this chick is crazy”

OK so the Vanderpump Rules reunion(total guilty pleasure show, sorry not sorry) show aired and despite all of the crazy ass drama that was taking place and bitching and name calling the one thing that I couldn’t stop focusing on was how damn good Tom Sandavol’s skin looked! Even Andy Cohen mentioned it and asked if had anything done, meaning “surgically” wink wink nudge nudge, and that’s when he mentioned that he shaved his face!

I flipped out, he wasn’t talking about shaving his beard but his whole freaking face, to prevent wrinkles instead of getting Botox!

When the episode was over though, naturally I ran to my  trusty computer to research the crap out of shaving your face to figure out whether or not this is a thing that people actually do, and low and behold I realized I have been seriously missing out!!

Women have been shaving their faces since the times of Grace Kelly and Audrey Hepburn!

What is Face Shaving All About?

Well according to Dr. Debbie Palmer, board-certified dermatologist and co-founder and Medical Director of Dermatology Associates of New York and this source

“Women performing at-home face-shaving has been getting some recent attention, but it’s something that has been done for years,” says Dr. Palmer. It’s a less intense form of dermaplaning, a cosmetic procedure performed by an aesthetician, dermatologist, or cosmetic surgeon, in which an instrument similar to a scalpel is used to shave the face. The procedure exfoliates the skin, removing dead skin cells, and in the process also removes fine vellus hair. My patients feel it gives them a smoother finish for makeup.”

What are the Benefits of Shaving Your Face?

  • A smoother makeup application because of the lack of facial hair now you get a nice flat finish
  • The exfoliation of dead skin cells to give you clear and glowing skin
  • Without the excess facial hair in the way skincare products have the ability to penetrate more deeply into the skin
  • Your skin cells turnover at a higher rate helping to heal blemishes and imperfections

    My Favorite Razors to Use

Another huge reason I started shaving my face was that after doing a lot of research I found out that one of my all time favorite Bachelor contestants and Bachelor in Paradise(um that show is like crack) made an entire video talking about why she shaves her face on the reg and why it is so damn important that all women do the same.

Watch this video to see exactly how it is done! Let me know what you guys think, ok I’m off to go watch the RHOBH reunion while sober so wish me luck!

Happy Grooming!

I’m intrigued! How does your face feel when the hair grows back? Thanks for introducing me to something new!

It doesn’t really feel like anything honestly, occasionally you can get an ingrown if you aren’t careful but it’s really unlikely. It feels so smoother after and it’s so much easier to apply makeup

Many, many years ago when I was a Clinique rep, the woman who was higher than me and had a degree in Cosmetology told us we should shave our faces. This was back in the 90’s and we thought she was crazy, but I tried it and have been doing it ever since. I am 66 now and still do it!
