We all wants a faster metabolism and time after time I have heard people blame their inability to lose weight or get in better shape on a slow metabolism or that fact that their body was just “born like this”, and because their family members might be overweight, they think that is what their future will look like and just accept it.
I’m calling BULLSHIT!
A huge misconception I need to break for you is that your metabolism is not some pre decided thing you are stuck with that is never going to change. You can indeed boost your metabolism and make it work for you instead of against you!
Top Ways to Boost Your Metabolism
HIIT ME WITH YOUR BEST SHOT
One of my favorite ways to boost my metabolism is to do HIIT cardio four or five days a week.
HIIT stands for high intensity interval training and in as little as 15 to 20 minutes you can get in an amazing workout that will keep your body burning calories for up to 48 hours after you finish.
How to do it!
HIIT entails short bursts of fast, high intensity training followed by a short recovery period and then another burst of high intensity training and so on for about 15 to 20 minutes. It gets your body to have an increased need for oxygen during those recovery periods and your body burns more fat in a shorter period of time.
You don’t need to slave away in the gym for two hours a day! Mega win for babes without a lot of time to spare!
One of my favorite workouts to do when I can’t get to the gym is to do this fun kick ass HIIT cardio routine at home!
Koo Koo for Coconuts!
Another amazing way to boost your metabolism is to start incorporating Coconut Oil into your daily diet! Coconut Oil is very different from other fats because it consists of almost entirely Medium Chain Fatty Acids, which are metabolized differently than the longer chain fat. They are right to the liver from the digestive tract where they are immediately used for fuel and energy rather than being stored as fat.
The way your body digests coconut oil speeds up for metabolic rate by about 15 percent! So just by incorporating coconut oil into your diet you can effortlessly burn more calories, I call that a major win!
One of my favorite properties of coconut oil is that is has “thermogenic” effects. Eating it increase your body’s fat burning properties.
One study shows that by eating 1 to 2 tablespoons of Coconut Oil a day burned an additional 300 calories! I personally eat a tablespoon of coconut oil a day because it has been shown to reduce belly fat and your overall waist size.
It is an easy way to burn more calories without even trying, so run to the nearest store and buy some Raw Coconut Oil and down a teaspoon or two!
TURN UP THE HEAT!
One of the most delicious ways to increase your metabolism comes in the form of turning up the heat! When you eat spicy foods like chili peppers, the capsaicin that makes them spicy can speed up your metabolism. Spicy foods boost your body’s production of heat, and fires up your sympathetic nervous system.
This causes your metabolism to experience a spike of up to 25 % increased calorie burn!
That’s a pretty huge jump just for eating some spicy foods! The easiest way to incorporate spicy foods into your diet (because I don’t really like the idea of eating a teaspoon of hot chilies every day), is with some cayenne pepper! I love to liberally sprinkle this cayenne pepper into warm water with lemon or iced water with lemon and just sip it throughout the day to keep my metabolism continuously spiked!
I also love the The Skinny Confidential Detox Drink, which adds some turmeric and mint leaves as well as some other metabolism boosting ingredients into a morning beverage that helps boost your metabolism! Turmeric has AMAZING health benefits and you can read more about that here
You can also sprinkle it on your salads for a little added kick, but just be careful with how much you use especially if you aren’t used to eating spicy foods, a little cayenne goes a long way!
And if all else fails and you just simply can’t stomach the spicy foods but still want reap the benefits is taking cayenne capsules like these which can be purchased online or at your local health food store.
Up Your Iron!
According to this source “Beans and lentils help to boost iron, which in turn helps your body work efficiently to burn calories. One cup of lentils provides about 35% of your daily iron needs, and paired with a grain like quinoa, you’ll get plenty of protein in your meal. Red beans are full of both soluble and insoluble fiber, which lowers insulin levels after digestion so your body stores less fat”
So add some beans and lentils into your diet and sprinkle them with some cayenne pepper for a real metabolism boosting effect!
Drink That Coffee!
Coffee can directly help your body turn on its fat burning switch because it acts as a stimulant for your nervous system. Your nervous system sends a direct signal to your fat cells and tells them to break down fat to use as energy instead of relying on carbohydrates.
Drinking coffee can boost your metabolic rate by 3-11 % and drinking more than one cup (clearly don’t drink the whole pot of coffee) can have even more metabolism boosting effects!
I always start my day off with some High Brew Coffee and it’s a great way to start my metabolism up for the day to burn more calories and give me a healthy energy boost!
I love my morning cup of coffee (or three) and we all know it is my favorite pre workout beverage instead of nasty chemical filled crap you scoop out of a tub, so this is a perfect way to burn more fat with very little efforts!
Hopefully these tips have shown you how easy it can be to kick your metabolism into high gear and make your body a well oiled fat burning machine! You aren’t stuck with the metabolism you are born with and can do such much to improve your health and live a fit and fabulous life!
